The obverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania inside a shield against a damascened background. The king’s crown is displayed on the right. The king’s sceptre is displayed below the centre of the coin. The inscription LIETUVA (Lithuania) arranged in a semi-circle runs at the top and the inscriptions 50 LITŲ (50 litas) and 1996 at the bottom.
The reverse of the coin presents the picture of the King of Lithuania Mindaugas according to the medal created by the sculptor Vytautas Kašuba, encircled with the inscription MINDAUGAS LIETUVOS KARALIUS (Mindaugas the King of Lithuania). The years 1251-1263 are displayed at the bottom.
